Delete an Undeletable file

Delete an Undeletable file

Often we come across the problem like getting some kind of error message while trying to delete a file. The errors are often like this :’System error (XXXX)’ OR cannot delete ****. Access is denied. In such cases you can apply this cool trick to delete the file.

Open a Command Prompt window and leave it open.(By typing cmd or command in ‘run’ box)

Close all open programs.

Click Start, Run and enter TASKMGR.EXE

Go to the Processes tab and End Process on Explorer.exe.

Leave Task Manager open.

Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory the AVI (or other undeletable file) is located in.

At the command prompt type DEL <filename> where <filename> is the file you wish to delete.

Go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart the GUI shell.

Close Task Manager.

Or you can also try this::

Open Notepad.exe

Click File>Save As..>

locate the folder where ur undeletable file is

Choose ‘All files’ from the file type box

click once on the file u want to delete so its name appears in the ‘filename’ box

put a ” at the start and end of the filename

(the filename should have the extension of the undeletable file so it will overwrite it)

click save,

It should ask u to overwrite the existing file, choose yes and u can delete it as normal

Here’s a manual way of doing it.

1. Start

2. Run

3. Type: command

4. To move into a directory type: cd c:\*** (The stars stand for your folder)

5. If you cannot access the folder because it has spaces for example Program Files or Kazaa Lite folder you have to do the following. instead of typing in the full folder name only take the first 6 letters then put a ~ and then 1 without spaces. Example: cd c:\progra~1\kazaal~1

6. Once your in the folder the non-deletable file it in type in dir - a list will come up with everything inside.

7. Now to delete the file type in del ***.bmp, txt, jpg, avi, etc… And if the file name has spaces you would use the special 1st 6 letters followed by a ~ and a 1 rule. Example: if your file name was bad file.bmp you would type once in the specific folder thorugh command, del badfil~1.bmp and your file should be gone. Make sure to type in the correct extension.

The question is on the air: “can Bing be a substitute for Google?” With the release of Microsoft newest search engine promises a lot to deliver the companies share prices rises up to 11.1 percent last week from 9.1 percent on the previous week (study released by ComScore).

Google on the other hand has over witted its other competitors for ages. Still it does not have any reason to get panicked by any other search engine. Bing’s home page is really flashy with stunning photographs compared to google’s simple and clear white home page. It is true that for homepage many people are preferring bing for a change. For the search features bing offers its logical two column presentation with the left column showing related searches. But Google shows the results in more compact format utilizing more space inspite of having ads. But Google presents all the searches in the same old fashion compard to bings new styles for searching different topics like airfares or hotels where bing gives much comprehensive information on the search page itself. Many of the bing users claim that its image search is much better than that of google’s but personally I don’t feel any defference in their image searching. Searching video is much easier in Google as it also refers to the source of the video besides of playing it.

With respect to other search features like shop search or map search the difference is very subtle. Bing’s Birds eye view is quite competing with Google’s street view. But where Google rocks is the iGoogle and its integration with a host of other services like gmail, orkut, news, groups, books, codes , blogs and others. Considering all aspects users can say Bing isn’t so bad after all and worth of giving a try.

Here are some basics maintenance tasks you can do today to start improving your computer’s security. Be sure you make these part of your ongoing maintenance as well.

* Sign up for software update e-mail notices. Many software companies will send you e-mail whenever a software update is available. This is particularly important for your operating system (e.g., Microsoft VV!|VD0VV$® or Macintosh), your antivirus program, and your firewall.

* Register your software. If you still have registration forms for existing software, send them in. And be sure to register new software in the future. This is another way for the software manufacturer to alert you when new updates are available.

* Install software updates immediately.

When you get an update notice, download the update immediately and install it. (Remember, downloading and installing are two separate tasks.)

An ounce of prevention

A few simple steps will help you keep your files safe and clean.

* Step 1: Update your software

* Step 2: Backup your files

* Step 3: Use antivirus software and keep it updated

* Step 4: Change your passwords

Developing ongoing maintenance practices

Now that you’ve done some ground work, it’s time to start moving into longer term maintenance tasks. These are all tasks that you should do today (or as soon as possible) to get started. But for best results, make these a part of a regular maintenance schedule. We recommend setting aside time each week to help keep your computer secure.

* Back up your files. Backing up your files simply means creating a copy of your computer files that you can use in the event the originals are lost. (Accidents can happen.) To learn more read our tips for backing up information.

* Scan your files with up to date antivirus software. Use your antivirus scan tool regularly to search for potential computer viruses and worms. Also, check your antivirus program’s user manual to see if you can schedule an automatic scan of your computer. To learn more, read our tips for reducing your virus risk.

* Change your passwords. Using the same password increases the odds that someone else will discover it. Change all of your passwords regularly (we recommend monthly) to reduce your risk. Also, choose your passwords carefully. To learn more, read our tips for creating stronger passwords.

Making a schedule

One of the best ways to help protect your computer is to perform maintenance regularly. To help you keep track, we suggest making a regular “appointment” with your computer. Treat it like you would any other appointment. Record it in your datebook or online calendar, and if you cannot make it, reschedule. Remember, you are not only helping to improve your computer, you are also helping to protect your personal information.

Heres what goes on when an any USB works:usb2

The computer acts as the host.When the host powers up, it queries all of the devices connected to the bus and assigns each one an address. This process is called enumeration — devices are also enumerated when they connect to the bus. The host also finds out from each device what type of data transfer it wishes to perform:

·         Interrupt - A device like a mouse or a keyboard, which will be sending very little data, would choose the interrupt mode.

·         Bulk - A device like a printer, which receives data in one big packet, uses the bulk transfer mode. A block of data is sent to the printer (in 64-byte chunks) and verified to make sure it is correct.

·         Isochronous - A streaming device (such as speakers) uses the isochronous mode. Data streams between the device and the host in real-time, and there is no error correction.

Some Facts:

1.       Up to 127 usb devices can connect to the host either directly or by USB hubs.

2.       Maximum USB data transfer speed is 480 MbpS.

3.       On the power wires, the computer can supply up to 500 milliamps of power at 5 volts.

4.       Low-power devices (such as mice) can draw their power directly from the bus. High-power devices (such as printers) have their own power supplies and draw minimal power from the bus. Hubs can have their own power supplies to provide power to devices connected to the hub.

About Lifecycle of USB flash drive:

The longevity depends on memory type, USB connection and  the chassis. SLC memory is good for about 100,000 write cycles as compared to MLC memory for 10000 write cycles. But MLC is easier to produce and very cheap and is common.

As for the connection they last about 1500 times connection to the hsot and that’s pretty good because hardly anybody uses that so many times to connect. And lastly the chassis most of which are made of plastics and are the main reasons to destroy the USB within its lifetime. Most of the flash drives got broken by getting dropped by the user himself.

mozilla-logoAdd ons are the most loving feature of Firefox and this is why its still the most preffered web browser. A huge number of addons are developed and are freely available at their site. Now the problem is most users just don’t have time for browsing through all the resources to customize their browser. Its often requires a lot of searching for the appropriate add on, reading forums, checking comparisons and all.

 So now firefox has made it much simpler for common user to keep his mozzila updated by creating collections of various online resources. Off cource the user can individually browse through each of the add ons but he can also install the collections like Social, family, travel, reference or web development. Also there is always scope for new collections by logging into the site. Its also possible to publish new collections to friends and new visitors.

Google introduces software to make it convenient for businesses to use Microsoft’s Outlook on google apps instead of Microsoft exchange. According to Google its for the ease of achieving the cost savings, security and reliability of Google Apps while employees use the interface they prefer for email, contacts and calendar. The new software can easily transfer data from a Microsoft exchange server to Google’s cloud based online service.

Microsoft Outlook has been the major email client for business purpose for long. The new plug in released by Google considers that many users won’t change that familiar interface. The theme of the event was “going Google,” and not only did Google invite several CIOs and IT directors to talk about their religious conversion from on-premises IT to Google-style cloud computing, but it also introduced new software for its paying enterprise customers to make “going Google” easier for Microsoft loyalists. Its very clear that Google is trying to emphasize its presence inside the corporate world with newer products like Google Apps which as claimed is cheaper and more reliable alternative to companies. However, there apparently is a sizable enough number of workers that refuse to move off Outlook, meaning that IT directors who want to sign up with Google were forced to maintain a Microsoft Exchange server to placate those folks while moving everybody else to Gmail.

Another alternative is for connecting to Gmail using outlook is  through IMAP but it often suffers from poor server performance. By this App Google definitely made it much cheaper to exchange the servers.

Google Apps Sync for Outlook is included in Premier online application packages available for 50 dollars per year per business user. It is free in online services that Google provides for education or nonprofit groups. But the plug in only works for Windows , Mac users may have to wait a little longer.

google-android-lg1Good news for Android lovers as the market is expected to be flooded with new android phones by this year end. According to Google there will be at least 18 phones will be available based on the Android operating system. According to Andy Rubin, director of mobile platforms at Google, that8 to 9 manufacturers from Europe will come as US carriers try to “create highly distinctive versions of the Android phone to give themselves an edge.”

Since its release on 2007, Android has seen much of its development in private. Although an open source product, it still needs to more popularizations in the market. It has been criticized by google for not being completely opensource for it releases the source code on 2008.

Mr. Rubin said that, in general, carriers will be slower in the United States to introduce Android phones than in Europe. The reason, he said, is that the domestic market is so competitive that carriers and handset makers want to create highly distinctive versions of the Android phone to give themselves an edge.

As for sure, the raising market of Android phones is going to intensify the battle among some of the world’s largest software companies to create the operating system for the future phones. Now  lets see how Android performs against a coming-soon new version of Microsoft’s mobile version of Windows, Apple’s proprietary iPhone system, the Blackberry platform, a new Palm OS for its Pre called WebOS, Symbian , and a host of Linux-based systems.

ie7-logoTrick 1.

The following tweak applies only to Windows XP Professional edition.

The default system behavior is that all 100% bandwidth is available, however, if there is a running application that indicates to the OS it needs to send high priority/real time data, then as long as it has the socket open, Windows XP will restrict “best effort” traffic to 80% of the bandwidth so that high priority traffic can be accommodated. Basically, applications can make this request to the operating system for QoS support using the QoS application programming interfaces (APIs) in Windows and this only applies if a specific app is requesting QoS.

If you’d like to change how much bandwidth is reserved for QoS (the default is 20% of the total bandwidth), do the following:

1. Make sure you’re logged in as “Administrator” (not just any account with admin privileges).
2. Navigate to START>Run and type: gpedit.msc
3. Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Administrative Templates > Network > QOS Packet Scheduler
4. In the right window, double-click the limit reservable bandwidth setting
5. On the setting tab, check the enabled setting.
6. Where it says “Bandwidth limit %”, change it to read 0 (or whatever percentage you want to reserve for high priority QoS data)
7. Click OK, close gpedit.msc

Trick 2.

 Windows 9x/ME

1. The tweak is essentialy the same as in Windows 2000/XP, just the location in the Registry is slightly different. For a more detailed description see the Windows 2000/XP section above

2. Open the Windows Registry using Regedit, and (after backing up) navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP\ServiceProvider

3. You should see the following settings:

Class=hex:08,00,00,00

LocalPriority=hex:f3,01,00,00

HostsPriority=hex:f4,01,00,00

DnsPriority=hex:d0,07,00,00

NetbtPriority=hex:d1,07,00,00

4. The “priority” lines should be changed to:

LocalPriority=hex:05,00,00,00

HostsPriority=hex:06,00,00,00

DnsPriority=hex:07,00,00,00

NetbtPriority=hex:08,00,00,00

5. Reboot for changes to take effect

Trick 3.

Under START > My Computer > My Network Connections > View Network Connections, right-click on your connection and under Properties (where it lists your protocols), make sure QOS Packet Scheduler is enabled.

The tweak desribed below helps boost priority for DNS & hostname resolution in general. What this means is, it helps web pages load faster, and has negligible effect on downloads (not counting the couple of ms gain with the host resolution at connect-time).

Applying this tweak assumes some proficiency in editing the Windows Registry using Regedit (Start > Run > type: regedit). As always, backup your Registry before making any changes so you can revert to the previous state if you don’t like the results.

Trick 4.

Follow the step:-

Go to desktop->

My computer-(right click on)->properties->

then go HARDWARE tab->

Device manager->

Now u see a window of Device managerthen

go to Ports->

Communication Port(double click on it and Open).

After open u can see a Communication Port properties.

Go the Port Setting:—-and now increase ur “Bits per second” to 128000 and “Flow control” change to Hardware.

Apply and see the result..
